I just upgraded from Flash 3 to Flash 4 and notice in the documentation that
there is no mention of the use of Aftershock. Is this not being recommended
for Flash 4?

Flash 4 comes with a feature called Publish (File|Publish).
Basically they've built the functionality of Aftershock into Flash 4 with
the Publish feature.
