Subject: FLASH: Sharing resources over scenes

Hi everyone,

A long time ago I read on the list that using scenes to organize your movies
wasn't a good idea because it increases file size. If I remember correctly..
the post said that symbols are not shared from each scene...so if you put a
bitmapped image on the stage in scene one, then convert to a symbol and use
it in scene two... it would increase the file size.

I'm starting a project and the structure would be best for me to use 3
scenes and share symbols between scenes... but I don't want to pay the
penalty of increased file size due to using scenes. I suppose I could put it
all together in one scene but it might result in a very complex timeline.
Breaking it into 3 scenes would be much easier to manage. I ran a simple
test of where I created two identical files with the exception of one of
them having two scenes. I didn't see any difference in file size in the
resulting swf.

Am I missing something here? Just what are the penalties of using scenes?

Thanks in advance

Alan
