afraid of a group of finite concepts out of a textbook ... please
pardon me, but you can't assume those who don't follow the mainstream are
afraid of it.
most certification exams are open to the public without going through an
"authorized" training center. get a book, become one with your machine, and
learn the stuff for real. you can not expect to be ready for the real world
if you cram everything in for a test, and I am sick and @#%# tired of
re-training "certified" MCSD's who don't understand OOP basics & dealing
with MCSE's who can spout off definitions all day long but get lost when I
ask them to change IIS properties or configure an enterprise datastore for
multi-server balancing.
at the last consulting firm I worked for I instructed 3 separate
crash-course seminars, Programming fundamentals, SQL, & COM. we banked 1000
per person per day ( 2, 2, & 4 days respectively) teaching concepts that
these people could have just as easily learned from a book and a small pinch
of initiative.
jeez, if anyone want's to pay me a grand I'll read you the bold print of the
Flash Bible, and you'll feel like you know it for a little while. You can
have a CD with examples very similar to those found on virtual-fx.net, &
moock.org. I'll even print you up 5 lbs. of additional handouts & a give
you a little framed certificate that says anything you want it to..
I am mainly referring to the mass of poor saps who come from Microsoft
Training Centers with MC-whatever you choose. As for MM, if a firm teaches
a specialized class like, video game programming in Director and/or Flash,
or Integrating commerce sites with animated interfaces, that may be worth
the enrollment fee. But for intro level stuff, get a book and start
reading. It's a liberating feeling to know that you can learn on your own.
I've never taken a crashcourse so I'm biased. I'm sure there are some
courses out there that are worth taking.
as for the centers themselves, keep banking on American laziness!!! From a
business perspective there isn't a damn thing wrong with that.
