Actually, for raw speed get my QuickSort from Flashkit...
it is the fastest sort you can do(that I know of) on an unknown list.

you have to swap all your clip properties
to change their order, for the level of clip cant be changed
( or at least i didn find out how. this is defenitvely a F5 wish)
an other method could be to remove all clips and duplicte them again,
in a different order, but i think this takes too much time

so you need a sorting loop wich compares all your z values,
there is an example on flashkit with a bubblesort algorithm in it,
but i cant remeber the name of it
