Hi Paul,

there are quite a lot of tutes out there covering this topic (e.g.
flashkit.com and some others; don't remember the urls).
However, I ripped a timer function off one the games I made and put it here
for you:

It currently uses small bitmaps as chars (like I said, it's ripped out of a
game which was set to low quality for better performance, so I used bitmaps
wherever possible), but it should be no problem to use standard vektor-font
instead. If you use the textfields as variables, you can save lots of data,
like; you can change the value of the textfields instead of addressing a
different frame in the seconds- and minutes-clips.
