Uhh, Helen, I at least have had plenty of OOM errors when working with large
FLAs on Windows as well. Working with small sized, vector files, you
generally don't see this, but load up on bitmaps and sounds, have a few
things on your C drive or some other apps. (like PS!) open, and watch the
grey boxes pop up.
Clearing room on C, changing the page file to another drive, etc. is not
*easier* than allocating more memory, just different (now the Mac equivalent
of clearing unwanted, corrupted or unlinked .vxds/.dlls out of your registry
or booting to a minimal system for video work _is_ a whole lot easier on a
Mac, but that is another story). Not too mention figuring out why my old
test box suddenly won't run Win98 because "there is an older version of DOS
installed on this system", even though I just fdisked and formatted it from
my Win98 install floppy!
