if you're talking about cameras and such, there's really a lot out there to
choose from. the sony trv-900 is what i use, but the cannon gl-1 and more
expensive xl-1 have gotten good reviews too. as far as editing cards, it
depends on how much you want to spend, but a good low-priced card is the
Canopus DV-Raptor. it only has firewire input/output ports, so you need a
mini-dv camcorder to use it, but it's supposed to be extremely stable under
Premiere, and also fast at rendering various effects (transitions, etc). i
think it retails for around $600. the same company also makes a card called
the dv-rex-m1 that handles both analog and digital sources, but it's
significantly more expensive (though also worth the $ apparently). if you
