To echo what other people said, one of the prime advantages of the
Macromedia Flash Player is its small file size. Adding video playback to the
player would significantly bump up player size. This is one reason it
doesn't exist.

Also, we do have support for QuickTime export, so there are other more
robust, video-dedicated delivery schemes that you can do video with.

While adding video to Flash is a huge feature request, it may be a bit
redundant for Flash to do this, as there are three major players in that
industry that suit people well - one of which also supports native Flash
(soon to be upped to version 4 - QuickTime). We've left video playback to
the established parties this time.
