Jason,
If I were you, I'd use QTVR. The current implementation of QTVR
doesn't allow spherical 360 view, but it's close enough. (Do you
really need to look straight up and straight down? Why?) If you do,
you're in luck. The next release of QT is supposed to support that
functionality. However, I'm not sure when that will be released.
Supposedly sometime this summer.
Are you using the Nikon Coolpix rig for IPIX with the 180(+) lens?
Again, you're in luck. While most QTVR enthusiasts go for multiple
shots for better quality panos, they CAN be done with your same
setup, with only two images. There is a program for the Mac called
DeFish that will unwrap your fish-eye images. There is a link to it at
www.iqtvra.org. I used it to unwrap, stitched in Photoshop, and
used the Panorama Maker (not stitcher) in Apple's QTVR studio to
make my QTVR's. This process is fast and reliable.
A killer site for your non-IPIX solutions other than the process I've
described is: http://www.fh-furtwangen.de/~dersch This guy is
incredible. I didn't find his software particularly user friendly, but you
might be smarter than I am.
Whatever you choose, good luck.
