Probably the same reason I wasn't: didn't know about it! So, I've just
tried your suggestion, Matt, because it came just as I needed it, but
I'm having some trouble. I have a Flash announcement in a table cell
which rotates through 3 messages and sends the viewer to the right page
with a GetURL. Works fine in both IE and NN if Flash is installed
(http://www.pmas.com, halfway down page on far right).
But now I've published the Flash movie with the replacement gif option
and copied all the relevant code (from js thru </object>) into the table
cell (no, from <map> thru </object> -- very cool that Flash creates a
map to replace the geturl!) and it still works fine in IE and NN with
the plugin installed. So I uploaded it to test it without the plugin.
First, I tried Gregg's suggestion of renaming the flash folder to
deactivate the activex in IE, but IE still ran the flash, even after I
had cleared the IE cache. So I went to the mm site and followed the
instructions for removing the activex plugin. Now when I go to the page
(http://www.pmas.com/pmas2.html), I get an error ("Install on Demand has
detected an error. Object doesn't support this property or method.") and
a big blank where the replacement gif should be. Why?
Second, I want to test in Netscape but I can't find anything in mm
technotes about disabling/removing the flash plugin from NN. Can I do
that?
Thanks for any help. I'm working in WinNT with Netscape 4.5 and IE 5.0.
It would be great to get this working!
tia,
Helen
