Marc provided a way to do it in Flash. Because you mention that you also
use Director, you're aware that you can use Flash inside of Director too,
right? D6.5 supports the SWF 2.0 format, and D7 supports the SWF 3.0
format. This lets you use vector animations and complex interactivity
together.

(One of the goals of Flash is to have a small, fast-starting Player engine.
The Lingo virtual machine inside the Shockwave Player is nearly half-a-meg
of code!)

If you already know Director, and you're starting to work with Flash, then
it's possible to use both parts of your experience, together. Lingo can
precisely control the playback of a Flash castmember, and even synchronize
multiple Flash files. Give it a shot... great stuff!
