hi Karen.
tried to email you at blackgraphics.com and the message was returned to me
as having fatal errors.
I like what I see so far. The button-text sliding to the right is a bit
confusing, however -- makes me wonder where I'm supposed to click. But I
like the effect.
Unfortunately, I can't give you lots of advice without knowing how much
content (file size-wise) there will be. If it's mostly animated text, you
should be able to load it pretty quickly. I think the initial preloader is
way too long, and should at least display some relevant content. I'm on a
56k modem, by the way.
You don't really need to use scenes for this. I'd suggest you learn to put
things in movie clips and have them "parked" (started in an empty frame
with a STOP action), then tellTarget them to play when you need them.
TellTarget is mystifiying initially, but once you get the hang of it it's
not hard at all. your design work is advanced enough that I feel you
should invest the time into learning this. Sounds and navigation will then
be a lot easier than with scenes.
A useful trick for building movie clips (and other symbols, too) is to
create the bare bones on the stage, to get the correct size and placement.
Then convert those bare bone graphics to a movie clip (F8) and then edit
the clip to have everything you want in it.
