Are you saying this is good, or bad? Flash can make an animation unwind
slowly or stop abruptly on rollover.

Not necessarily. You can make 1 un-animate whenever you want it to. Or not
at all.

What do you mean by "hard wired?" What do you mean by "Making this '1
un-animation' in more than one place"? What's not good?

I don't understand what you're talking about -- what is the effect you
want, and what effect do you want to avoid? I don't see anything on your
page that cannot be replicated in Flash. Please explain what you want it
to do. I may not have time to build it, but I'll tell you how it works in
Flash.
