I've had similar problems. Three factors that may affect this:
1) Normalize the files before import. On PC, CoolEdit (shareware at
www.syntrillium.com) can do this. Normalizing adjusts the level so the
loudest levels are whatever percentage of optimum you choose (I like to use
95% for some margin of safety, but sometimes a lower setting seems
necessary if distortion is a problem). CoolEdit recognizes AIFF and WAV.
2) Import at 44.1kHz, 16-bit, and use the Flash sound settings to find a
compression and bit-rate scheme that works. The settings are accessed by
double-clicking the name of the sound file in the library list.
3) Sometimes a sound doesn't work correctly if it's in a frame that has
just been jumped to. Put it in the second frame when doing GoTo's.
