Actions work two ways:
1) When assigned in Frame Properties, the action will be carried out when
playback reaches the frame. This can occur in the main timeline or in the
timeline of a movie clip.
2) On Mouse Event (rollover, press[click], release, rollout, dragover,
dragout). Mouse Event actions are assigned to the instance (on-stage
occurence) of a button.
Hence, Movie clips are generally the only symbol you place actions _in_;
other actions are assigned to the main timeline or to a button
(double-click the button on stage to bring up instance properties>actions).
Hope this helps. There are good tutorials that come with Flash and also on
the web. Please try them.
