There's no need to interlace, and most applications should determine the
best compression method for you. I don't have Photoshop handy on this
machine right now and so can't check, but I do recall posts from people in
the past who have used its PNG without incident.

These days I use Fireworks most frequently. Its PNG comes into Flash 3
nicely, and the alpha-transparency is particularly useful. (You can use the
alpha in PNG as a mask on vector shapes in Flash 3.)

Now, on these particular PNG, are you seeing the problem when exporting
from the creation tool, or when importing into Flash, or when exporting
from Flash again for the web browser with some type of secondary
compression settings...?
