When I experimented with masking a mc, it reset when the mask was removed.
So I would assume that masking a mc is equivalent to removing it from the
timeline. If your purpose accomodates it, try either placing a solid
graphic on the layer above, orgiving the mc a blank park frame. if the mc
is keeping track of something, you might need more than one park frame so
as not to lose count. HTH.
