Illustrator 8 forget it,

I get the same clip art.  It looks like the adobe logo upside down and

backwards with all the layers merged into one.

we are using the final version of Ill 8  so I am fairly certain this is

widespread.

I have to save as Il 6 to import vector illustrations and maintain layers

I don't have prior word on such symptoms, but I'm very interested in such

changes, thanks in advance.


(I have a demo version of ILL8, but I don't have the full exporting

versions on both platforms for tests, myself. The dev team here usually

tests against existing apps when creating a new version, but we in tech

support try to catch new software that breaks functionality as it arrives.)


Could you tell me whether this is all files that always make a problem,

please? Or is it certain particular files, with certain particular

features, that act differently when you save them out into different

versions? You mention "clip art"...are you actually importing a clipart

file from some source? If so, can you make, say, a rectangle with text and

import that normally?


If there's actually a problem here, then I'm glad to hear that saving from

ILL8 in ILL7 format fixes it. It would be helpful if you let Adobe know

about this reduced functionality, because they'll likely have an updater

before we make a new version.


Summary:

--  Is this some files, or all files?

--  Do you see any cases where saving as .AI7 does not help?


Any other listmembers have any reports...?
