Hi Daniel,
The frame rate of a Flash movie can slow down when the animation gets more
complex and takes longer to draw without distorting the content, but a
sound file can't slow down without distorting the sound. So Flash gives
you two choices.
1) You can insert your sound file as an EVENT sound. The beginning of the
sound will be in sync with the animation because it will start in the key
frame that you insert it in. But the sound will play at proper speed
independent of changes in the animation frame rate, so the sound and
animation can get out of sync on slow computers. Or, ...
2) You can insert your sound file as a STREAMING sound. In this case the
sound and animation are forced to stay in sync by forcing the animation to
play at a constant frame rate and thus keep up with the sound file. The
animation will skip frames if it has to in order to play at the same speed
as the sound file. They'll stay in sync on slower computers or over a
congested Web connection, but complex animation may suffer as there may not
be enough time for a slow computer to draw all of the frames.
S, if you want things to stay in sync with particular notes in the music,
then you'll probably have to use streaming sounds. But you'll have to test
the animation on slower computers or connection speeds to make sure that
the animation still plays the way you want it to.
