Let's face it folks, Java just doesn't cut the mustard nearly as clean as Flash. Let's get with the program and get plugins/players for everyone. How else is Flash gonna become the standard? As I've said earlier. Even Squeak, another off the market platform being created by the Disney folks (get it? Mouse...Squeak...haha) has it's own player. Why can't MM make one (or two or fifteen) for Unix users?
I have a question about this ---
why, if the Flash format is "open", have we not seen:
a) an alternate editing program for flash
b) native unix flash players
presumably these are non-trivial projects - but I haven't even heard
rumours of them. : (
does the *nix community just not care about flash because of the
perception that macromedia is blowing them off by not having *nix
players for shockwave?
And - if possible from our friends at macromedia - can you comment
on how you would feel if someone came out with alternate players -
would the re be a licensing issue if they did either a) or b) above?
