I think I realized part of the problem from some of the criticisms I
received on my draft site. When people come expecting content and
direction, they will be disappointed or angered if you are creating a
movie for a movie's sake. What I've decided to do is go more quickly to
a menu for direction and set a button for enjoyment and pleasure - and
make it known that this section is an art gallery.... not a menu driven
area going towards a goal. I think you will have two different types of
people coming to a site: one that wants to be entertained and wants to
wait for dynamic content, and one that wants to get from a to b.

What's happening on the radio sites is that your bottom line concern
[e-commerce] is going to suffer if you make your movie intensive graphics
your opening to your overall site. But you can make a flash menu and
content pages faster than regular html, if you keep them trim.

I think for an entertainment media driven site like a radio station,
however, they ought to consider providing state of the art graphics areas
on their sites as an option, like a chatroom, forum, or game area is on a
community/special interest site. I think if you treat the site like a
fork in the road and have two options, there is a place for both.
