following up with some experimentation i've discovered the following:

- you CAN animate device fonts (after converting to symbols)
- you CAN NOT apply alpha settings
- you CAN NOT mask device fonts

now that i think of it, i haven't tried skewing them, but i'm willing
to bet it isn't possible. in the next few days that i'll post the
site i'm working on now. it makes extensive use of device fonts.
