Willie,

You're getting a few different options here, but that all may just
confuse you more. Here's a little explanation (that's also found in the
manual)...

The basic universal path to the main timeline is just a slash "/" so you
can use this to work down from the main timeline as well. For example,
no matter where you are in your movie you can refer to a MC on the main
timeline as "/mymovieclip".

The "../" is just like in HTML, it goes up one step to the parent
timeline. So this will only target the main timeline if you're targeting
from an object that is on the main timeline. If you're in MC2 that's
inside MC1 that's on the main timeline, "../" will be targeting MC1.

Now, the "_level0" is actually more 'universal' than the slash because
it targets the main timeline on Level 0. It's useful when you're dealing
with loaded movies that are on different levels.
