Yes, their 'get out clause' was quite alarming - to
then inform that they had an interested private
investor frightened me. At the close of the program
they all seemed to have serious fundamental
disagreements which forced them to fall down from
theclouds anyway.
It is disturbing that there is this gold-rush view
amongst (wannabe) entreprenuers - I'm not sure how far
this opinion extends but would be interested to know
more. (Interesting to note that even Rupert Cooke, the
investor featured last night has no prior ecommerce
experience - are these people equipped to know what
makes a successful ecommerce model?)
It's the media that are promoting this gold-rush,
get-rich quick scheme. E-Business strategies seem less
about communications and 'making the world a happier
place' and more about floating and retiring earlier -
which, yes, would make me happy, but what about
building communities and consumer-friendly business
models? Who is benefiting from all the cost-cutting
and economies of scale that ecommerce is offering?
In very few cases (in the grand scale) do we, as
consumers, actually see the whole benefits.
You're absolutley right though, the media do love it!!
Anna.
