UKODA was established in May this year and the 13 founder members are
Reading Room, Absolute Internet, Blackpig, Blueberry.Net, 64k, AKQA,
AnswerThink, Clockwork Web, Fernhart, Razorfish, SP New Media and Wicked
Web.

The inauguration of UKODA came about following a report from Reading Room
that uncovered high levels of dissatisfaction with some Web development
agencies. 70% of their clients were unhappy about their previous web design
agencies and 63% felt it was due to a lack of professional standards.

To maintain professional standards those who wish to join UKODA have fulfil
four mandatory requirements. Companies must be either a partnership or
limited company, over two years old and have three written client references
from the past year of trading. All members also have to have full indemnity
insurance.

Subject: UKNM: Industry Bodies...

To the best of my knowledge there are currently three Industry Bodies who
will
approve/certify New Media Agencies / Web Design Agencies etc. They are
UKODA,
BWDMA (British Web Design and Marketing Association) and Clicksure.

I am all for measures that get rid of some of the cowboys in this industry
but
paying out hundreds and thousands of pounds to join all three of these
agencies
is overkill. I am not sure there is even room for three Industry Bodies, in
which case which one will survive? This is a three horse race with no form
or
odds to measure against - who is most likely to be the winner?
Does anybody have any experiences of any of these people? And if so are
they
getting any ROI?
