hmmm... i wrote a guide to internet cafes for time out at the beginning of '97
and they attracted an international crowd of people who came from more wired
places than the uk checking on their mail! mind you, that was two and a half
years ago - i found about twenty in london when i did the research (Jan '97). My
favourite was The Bean on Curtain Road (oh what a nerdy area, Shoreditch) -
definitely an early adopter and perhaps more of a coffee shop with email than
the other way round - but still very handy :) s
