Regarding the wacky names -- as someone who's been responsible for a couple
(Quip! (www.quip.co.uk) and Eyestorm (www.eyestorm.com) -- names are wacky
because the domain name situation is so bad. The globalised Earth is just
too big to have an endless range of unique and appropriate names, and the
more sensible they are, the more likely they are to be taken online.
(before the realnames folk jump in, I would say keywording systems are just
as bad). Even if there's no 'First National' bank here, you can bet there
will be in the US, or Australia, or Canada, or India, or Ireland, or
wherever, and they will have got the name first, so the best one can do is
Smile.
