if you draw correlations from the content of two current threads:

the freeserve model shows(if we believe the figures) that the marketing
message of "it's free and it's simple" rather than trying to explain
that "it's simple and it doesnt cost that much", works for selling
technology to the masses. it's a price thing - with the masses it
usually is!

the same will doubtless (imho) be true of dtv and that is where ntl has
the edge - they can sell the whole thing, as ben says, without having to
get into any explanation of the technology: they will simply say "it's
�15 a month which is less than everything else for a million tv channels
and you get a telephone line thrown in". once the masses get it and
start to play with it, only then will they suddenly say "wow, and you
get this internet thing and interactivity too - even more of a bargain!"

ps can someone confirm the ntl url because if www.ntl.co.uk is it then
it's doing a pretty poor job at selling us potential early adopters the
whole thing!
