Does anyone know whether UK organisations can register .edu domains (the
usage would be for a website to promote an educational text) and, if so,
what is the cost and process involved?

Thanks.

Jo, I'd be very surprised if you could, you can't get a .ac.uk domain.
Anyway, IMO you shouldn't be doing this, even if you can. the .edu is
intended to tell the visitor that it is a recognised educational insitution.
Why not put the marketing in the name - educationaltext.com or whatever..com
? If it is educational it should be country specific so for the UK it should
be a .co.uk domian.

Educational buyers aren't likely to be looking to buy from a .edu domain and
any search engine is likely to search the domain name part rather than the
domain classification.
