Isn't 'linking to sites' what the web is all about. This reminds me of the
person who once said to me 'I'd like to build a site (open) but I don't want
my competitors to see it.' Pardon.

If you build a site (open) then people will link to it (hopefully), millions
will come to it (hopefully), millions will read what's on it (hopefully) and
that's good.

If this isn't wanted then password protect it or part of it, or put it on
your intranet or your extranet or something.

The whole thing about 'deep-linking' is confusing as well. Many sites may
have many home pages which are cross-linked, or pages may be distributed
throughout servers across the globe, mirrored, or similar. At the end of the
day what is the 'home page' and where is it?. The 'home page' of the group,
a division, a company, a product or whatever? Sounds to me like regulation
trying to be put into place by people who know little about the medium
they're trying to regulate. Now where have I heard of that before? <grin>.
