Sam, I wish it weren't so, but Mark Prendegrast's 'For God Country and Coca
Cola' (an unauthorised but authoritative history of the company, see pp181)
cites 1931 ads by Sunny Sundblom as the origin of a coca cola red santa.

How long before Ferrari red turns into Marlboro red?
