so funny...i was chatting with someone about this today at the office! in
my experience, it's better to build your own & customize. the off-the-shelf
stuff is often a) extrememly expensive and b) inflexible. there are some
great tools you can build using XML, sybase & good ol' linux. once you have
the backend, it's just a matter of putting a nice user interface on it.

recommended to me by a collegue. here's the link --

you are really interested.
