TEDGlobal 2010
Event Info
Description
TEDGlobal 2010, held over the course of four days in Oxford, will explore the shocking undercurrent of good news just below the surface of today's troubling headlines....
Headlines remind us daily of the political, economic and environmental woes facing the planet. But behind the scenes lie an amazing array of new ideas, new science, new technology, new social and political thinking, new art and a new understanding of who we are. When you put it all together, an entirely more hopeful view of the future emerges.
Many of the remarkable architects of that future -- those who are pushing the boundaries of what is known and expanding the possible -- will join us at TEDGlobal 2010, from all over the world.
We will make a full announcement of the program in the months leading up to the conference. But here is an excerpt of our working sheet: some of the questions that we will consider while developing the TEDGlobal 2010 program:
- How do we cope with ecological debt?
- Does life have a price?
- Can technology avoid disasters?
- Is the world becoming free-er?
- Are we winning the war on cancer?
- Is kindness an art?
- Can music teach math?
- Are peacemakers getting stronger?
- Can ancient molecules tell us who we are?
- Can kids self-educate?
Oxford is a one-of-a-kind environment that for centuries has championed the power of reason and discovery and art, and TEDGlobal 2010 will again be finely woven into the Oxford landscape, making the most of local landmarks. Special activities will again include TED University, exclusive visits (London, Bletchley Park, etc), awesome evening events, and several new additions. These activities will be opened to registered participants only.
