Whoa . . .
Hang on there! Before you went through all that:
Attempt to isolate the problem before doing all the re-installs etc..
First thing to do is close that movie(fla), open a different one and try and
duplicate the problem. If it happens with a different movie, then yeah, I
too would be tempted to do what you did. If not then:
1)Try resaving the fla as a different name and try . . .
2)If a no go with 1, try copying and pasting all frames from bad movie to
new blank movie and try.
Hopefully you went through these steps FIRST! If you didn't - try the above
steps now . . .
And since another computer does the same thing - it's not the OS or the
Flash App - it's the movie(fla).
Steps 1 and 2 above should solve the problem.

My system repeatedly crashes when I'm trying to drand-and-drop some items
from the library pannel onto the movie. I first thouht it was the system so
I reinstalled Windows - and only succeeded in destroying my network setting
!
I downloaded a fresh version of the program - no change...
I then tried on another computer - worked fine for a minute or so then bingo
! - same problem !!
