Some images are better left as vectors.
A simple autotracing may not be a true indication of whether your images
would be better as vactors or not. There is a lot of technique and
optimization in many bitmap conversions.
Though Flash handles vectors better than bitmaps. a 9 to 1 increase in
file size means an awful lot of complexity which Flash also does not
handle very well.

You should supply your Flash files at a fixed size, not scaling to fill
the window.

Why disable this feature even if you are using bitmaps?
If your bitmaps are high enogh resoltion they should do fine when zoomed
in on (not as good as vectors of course).
