If you use the standard scaling settings Showall (default and 100% for
height and width objects drawn off stage may be seen.

If the aspect ratio of the movie (width/height) is exatly the same as
the browser window then no off stage items will appear.

Otherwise, objects sitting outside the stage on one or two sides may
appear.

When using showall a movie is expanded to fill the window left to right
(or top to bottom) without changing the proportions of the movie or
cropping any of the movie. Unless the aspect ratio of the movie matches
the window exactly there will be a border at the top and bottom (or
right and left) which is filled with Flash. So the canvas displayed is
expanded from the stage in Flash and objects off stage on some sides may
appear.

A parameter SAlign sets the side or corner where the Flash movie's side
or corner begins and no objects outside of the stage on that side(s)
will appear. If SAlign is set then the sides where off stage objects can
appear can be either two or one depending on the aspect ratio fit and
the setting of SAlign.
