There is a technote on this on the macromedia site.

Search for 'symbol'.

As far as I remember there is no 'real' solution. The cause is

unknown. Turning off some system extensions somethimes helps.

Reinstalling Macos idem ditto. In my case only restarting solves the

problem (temporarily)

Your solution of swapping symbols makes you a genius in my eyes

instead of a dumba** bloke ;-)
