There's a flag that can be set in a movie to make it open in the player in
"Present Movie" mode. At present the apps which let you set it are Media
Cleaner and maybe LiveStage Pro.
This will cause the Player to black out the screen and monopolize the
processor (more, not completely, since you still are going to want
networking services, etc.) resulting in somewhat smoother playback. It works
even in "non-pro" installations which don't have the "Present Movie" menu
item.
Once you've taken over the screen, just what sort of bandwidth material you
choose to stick there will determine how well the experience goes.
One caveat: Depending on video cards and drivers the player is not able to
do this on all Windows machines. We add support for more cards and drivers
with every update, but it's always a race to keep up with the new releases.
On another topic, has anyone tried Flash 4 in QT5 yet? We've been working
hard on it (and continue to).
