In Finland, you can pay for a number of travel-related things via your

GSM bill.   There are soft drinks machines, car washes, parking places

etc. that have a phone number on them rather than a slot for coins.


For the drinks machine, for example, you call the number on the machine

from your GSM, a can pops out and your phone bill is charged for it.


A couple of environmental factors come in to play:


- everybody (and that is Everybody) has a GSM phone; and


- it is usually FAR too cold to be digging around for loose change.
