This is an interesting one. If a shop goes out of stock on many lines
(as seems to have happened here), the shelves would be there - but
empty. It doesn't inspire purchasing. If the range of goods is
significantly altered, customers get a different perception of what
the shop is all about. Likewise having "40% off" "everything must go"
"closing down sale" signs plastered everywhere.
If they did go out of stock on goods regularly, that indicates
they've got a supply chain problem. It's all ultimately part of the
customer experience.
