Sally,
We use Maximizer as the Contact Manager which performs all of these
functions but I find is a bit cumbersome to use. In previous roles I have
used Act or Goldmine, which seem to be market leaders now and (IMHO) are
better. The versions of all three of these
contact managers that I am familiar with are not geared up to handling email
permission marketing. They can send the email out but do not have the
functionality to manage auto responses, subscribe/ unsuscribe lists and
updating of records etc. (Although
later versions may have improved on this I do not know).

You need a separate email management system for this - European Internet are
developing one in house for our own use and to integrate with our graphical
email package VectorMailTM so I cannot recommend any commercial packages
for this.
