Subject: | UKNM: research for a feature... :) |

At risk of incurring the wrath of certain folk... heh heh heh...
...I'm writing a feature about search engines for 'Internet' . It will
focus on which search engines are best for finding particular types of
information and try to identify the most *effective* search engines.
Amongst other resources, I'll be looking at: Yahoo, Ask Jeeves, Dogpile,
Google, Northern Lights, Alta Vista, Lycos ...and a whole host of UK-based
engines.
I'm after your comments on:
* the way in which search engines work.
* recommendations for search engines that are effective for finding
particular types of content.
* valid criticism of certain search engines.
* anecdotes about finding something unusual or elusive using a particular
search engine.
* problems with submitting sites to major search engines that could
adversely influence the breadth of content they index.
Cheers m'dears.
Jo.
