Well, i'm sure that good PR is part of it, but to me, PR (the news papers)
is a
conduit through which interesting ideas can be passed. But in all fairness,
it's the TV show (Big Brother) people are talking about, not the fact that
they
read about it in the Sun.
I agree more with Ben, who suggested that we compare viral marketing with
computer or a biological virus, in the way that it gets passed around. My
only
comment there is that the success of a viral marketing campaign is as much
to do
with why the virus is passed (Big Brother is a TV show which all me mates
have
seen so it's fair game as a topic of conversation) as how it is passed
around (a
chat down the pub, e-mail or in the papers).
Either way, PR is only a small part of it.
My question stil stands, can the essence be bottled?
