Digital Mission

The Digital Mission to LA & San Francisco took place from 11th-16th October 2009 and featured 14 of the UK's leading digital SMEs visiting Los Angeles, Silicon Valley and San Francisco for for key meetings, advice on working stateside, help with fact-finding, networking events and investor meetings.

This mission was tailored specifically for interactive design and development companies. The trip included time spent in both LA & San Francisco, giving the companies attending unrivalled access to UK Trade & Investment resources and industry contacts as well attendance at regular networking events held in Silicon Valley, and digital receptions at the British Consulates.

Application Process

Applications for this mission are now closed.

To be selected for this mission companies will need to be classified as an SME as well as fulfilling the following criteria:

  • UK headquartered
  • Innovative
  • Ready to either do business in the US OR be looking for potential US partners, resellers etc
  • Have 2 years trading history, or failing that, compelling early-stage fast-track potential
  • Able to provide references from key sponsors/industry players
  • Able to cover travel and accommodation costs (c£1650 including airport transfers and internal flight)
  • Able to cover contribution towards costs (c£600)

Successful applicants will be chosen by the Digital Mission Advisory Board which is traditionally made up of top UK digital entrepreneurs, VCs, journalists, UKTI and regional representatives.

The contribution towards costs for this mission will be c£600 (confirmed on successful application) and will include:

  • Marketing and PR pre and post mission
  • High profile meetings with key US industry players and companies
  • Networking events
  • Opening evening reception in LA to welcome attendees
  • Closing reception in San Francisco to reflect on the mission before flying back to the UK
  • More activities and full schedule TBC - here's a rough outline

Travel & Accommodation

Travel and accommodation can either be booked independently or through our travel partner Expose Travel. Full quotes and advice will be available upon successful application but the estimated cost will be c£1650 for flights and accomodation in both cities plus an internal flight and airport transfers if booked through Expose.
