FLASH: AVI to MPE ? - help!

Help please!

I'm working on a flashed site for a film and I need to include 4 short

(60 sec) video excerpts complete with sound (in pop up windows).

What would be the best format for me to receive these clips in so I can

work on them?

I was thinking avi format, but then I would need to convert to mpe

format (to reduce the size) and I can't find a program to do this.  Is

there an mpe editor program?

Or am I going about this the wrong way?

Alternatively, is there any format that could be used without having to

open a new window?
