I found 8.5 and 8.6 both much more stable than 8.1. I had some 

trouble at 1st, but after updating drivers etc (and minimizing bell 

and whistle inits) I rarely crash. I been running for over a week now 

without a restart. I would strongly suggest going to 8.6, esp if you 

already have 8.5.
