Well the majority of us in this group are using IE4.01 on WinNT and win95.
Is there a way to have an auto install from the newest version of Shockwave,
without the reboot?

Depends on the browser. Some can use new capabilities without
restarting,
some can't.

(For the other part of the description I wondered whether some Cyrix
machines had the first few days' worth of Flash 3 plugins, but
wasn't
positive that was what was being described.)
