Select the object. Command-k (on the mac) or control-k (I think, pc) or go
to the transform menu -> align. In the align menu choose the vertical center
option, the horizontal center option (the ones on top that look like they've
got lines going through the center) and check the "align to page" box in the
bottom left. Click ok, or hit return. The options you've chosen will be held
in the align menu until you choose something else, so if you want a lot of
objects centered, you can choose each in turn, use the shortcut (cmd-k etc.)
and hit return for a fairly quick operation.
