Thanks Radu, but this is conventional wisdom (c.f. John Dowdell@MM)
I.M.O. the evidence is:
1. HTML offers little control over design ie. how the viewer sees your site.
2. HTML offers no control over typeface font
3. HTML needs to be supplemented by J.S. for even the simplest use of logic
eg:random.
4. HTML is useless for animated intertitles (text introductions).
5. HTML offers no security, Flash offers some.
6. SWF's can be exported as single file projectors instead of a bucket of
files for the user to sort.
7. SWFs stream sound
8. SWF is an excellent tool for banners.
8. If SWF .jpegs are streamed properly the viewers experience is seamless,
wheras HTML pages with photographs are always clunky. Compare the "Absence
of Evidence.swf" with similar sequences made using HTML eg. "Days in
Eldorado" or "From Ruskin's Window" at www.arklo.
9. The bandwidth situation will get better.

Therfore my conclusion is: Flash 4 offers an all in one solution for my
purposes, with a minimal loss in download time if properly streamed, and
things can only get better.
