Subject: | Re: FLASH: CD Rom production - Director is so bogus |

This discussion is now including "return on investment" for buying Director.
I still don't get it--do people buy a new copy of Director for every
project? I suppose if you're only going to use it for one job, then you
should seriously consider the cost.
I look at it entirely differently. I bought Director a million years ago...
and I upgrade it every time I can. It's not super-cheap, but if I look at
my total income... ALL software / hardware costs amount to less than 10%.
If you can use it--it better be worth the cost. In my opinion it is.
If people are so cost-conscious (and I'm not saying you should spend money
without thinking)... let me ask this: do you charge less to do a job in
Flash than Director because it costs less? (I hope not.)
In the case of upgrading the Mac version, I do wait until I have a job to
justify the cost (one job is enough). Yeah, I'd like it if Macromedia gave
me the Mac version! But I also want them to keep developing/supporting new
products... so I don't mind paying a little to that end.
